borderline hypothermia

Catamaran class yesterday and today.

Hot shower after class, hot water pouring into my wetsuit, and I still could not get the water hot enough to feel truly warm.

Hours later, I am finally warm and comfortable, and also completely exhausted. I am always completely amazed how much energy it takes to keep warm. I do not remember the last time I was so thoroughly spent.

  1. gotta be careful sans beard man, you don’t realize how much heat is lost through the chin.

  2. You jest, but there is much truth to this.
The insulation provided by a big bushy manbeard is not to be underestimated.

  3. no way man, I froze the first ride after I fell my facial forest.
Have you noticed riding is louder now?

  4. I did notice it a little bit. Most of the riding I have done since beating back the bush has been on wet surfaces which are louder to begin with, so the change was not so pronounced.
The weirdest thing of all is getting used to wearing jackets with high collars and not needing to jut my chin out to zip up the jacket without getting the beard caught.
