COB

The more crew overboard drills that I do, the more I come to appreciate how difficult they are to do well.

Survival statistics for falling overboard in a boat are extremely grim.

  1. I swear I just saw a post with nearly that exact last sentence. Was it one of yours?

  2. if by “just” you mean “back in mid august” then yes indeed.
I do not think I have posted about COB since then though. But seriously, stats are not good. Chances of survival are <50%. However, chances are improved dramatically by wearing PFD's (no surprise there) and are also improved dramatically at nighttime through the use of strobe beacons (which are notably inexpensive).
