on wenatchee

wearing stinky chest-high waders that weigh a good 25 pounds wet
“You have no idea what I would not do for you.”
“I am beginning to get an understanding.”

Everything is out of the water. We are almost finished lashing down the load. The wind picks up, then it gusts more than 30mph from the North.
“You are too late. TOO LATE!”

We drive over Steven’s pass. For more than 45 minutes, I cannot see the road for all the sleet, snow, and then sleet again that is falling.
A semi overtakes us.
“You have got to be fucking kidding me.”
“I thought we were crazy.”

Peeling off three skin-tight thermal layers that have been on my body for 18 hours is a magical experience. It feels as though every single follicle attached to every bit of body hair I have is taking a deep breath and stretching after being cramped up. I am tingly and bone tired.

Goodnight me beauties.
